About WhatDx

A personal medical scientist for health problems that still do not make sense.

WhatDx helps patients and caregivers investigate complicated medical histories with a structured, continuing research process designed to complement—not replace—professional healthcare.

1. Why WhatDx exists

Difficult health problems rarely arrive as a neat, complete story. Symptoms evolve, reports accumulate, treatment responses change the picture, and different clinicians may see different parts of the case. WhatDx is designed to help keep that investigation coherent over time.

The service gives a patient or caregiver a structured way to bring together their history and records, answer focused follow-up questions, and revisit the same research case when new evidence appears.

2. How it works

Share your story and records. Tell WhatDx what has been happening and upload the reports you have.

WhatDx investigates the case. It reconstructs the timeline, studies the available evidence, looks for contradictions or missing pieces, and asks follow-up questions that may materially change the research direction.

Bring back new evidence. During the active research window, a new lab result, scan, specialist opinion or treatment response can be added to the same case so the investigation can be updated rather than restarted from scratch.

3. More than a general chatbot

WhatDx is not designed as a blank chat box waiting for the user to know the right prompt. It uses a physician-designed research process and can draw on multiple leading AI systems to examine different parts of a case. The exact underlying models may change as the technology improves.

The aim is not to produce a confident answer at any cost. The process is intended to preserve uncertainty, identify what does and does not fit, and help clarify which evidence may be most useful next.

For clinicians

A research assistant for the cases that need more time than the clinic can give them.

WhatDx helps clinicians bring frontier AI into real-world practice without turning the consultation into a prompting exercise. Patients complete the deeper investigative work outside the appointment, while you remain the clinical decision-maker.

It is designed for complex, unexplained, multisystem or diagnostically difficult cases where the limiting factor is often not medical knowledge, but the time required to reconstruct the history, examine every clue and explore plausible alternatives.

Take the history you rarely have time to take

WhatDx can conduct a long, adaptive interview across symptoms, chronology, previous diagnoses, treatment responses, family history and uploaded records. It keeps asking follow-up questions when an answer changes the direction of the case.

Look beyond one specialty

Complex illness often crosses neurological, gastrointestinal, rheumatological, endocrine, dermatological and other boundaries. WhatDx can examine the whole longitudinal case together and surface patterns that may be difficult to see when each specialty encounters only one part of the story.

Keep rare and inherited disorders in the differential

When the presentation warrants it, WhatDx can research rare diseases and inherited conditions whose phenotype may fit the patient's history, family pattern, laboratory findings or multisystem presentation. These are hypotheses for clinical evaluation—not automated diagnoses.

Revisit assumptions that no longer fit

It tracks chronology, previous labels, treatment failures, contradictory findings and new evidence so that an early assumption does not remain unquestioned simply because it has been repeated across the record.

Research the case while you treat the patient

WhatDx can use multiple frontier AI models and current medical literature to explore competing explanations, identify evidence that would discriminate between them and organize the next useful questions for clinician review.

Give patients a productive role between visits

Instead of repeatedly retelling the same fragmented story, patients can organize records, complete the detailed history and return with a structured case dossier. That can make follow-up visits more focused and help patients feel that difficult cases are continuing to move forward.

AI superintelligence, without asking a busy doctor to become an AI operator.

You do not need to choose models, engineer prompts or spend an evening interrogating a chatbot. WhatDx runs a physician-designed investigative process in the background and brings the clinically relevant findings back into a form you can review.

WhatDx is a research and clinical-support tool, not an autonomous physician. It can generate incorrect or incomplete hypotheses, and all diagnoses, investigations and treatment decisions remain the responsibility of appropriately qualified healthcare professionals.

5. Operator

WhatDx is operated by What dx, India. The broader team is not publicly listed at this stage while the service is in its initial production phase.

6. Medical boundaries

WhatDx is a research and information service. It is not a hospital, clinic, diagnostic laboratory, pharmacy or emergency service. It cannot perform a physical examination, independently verify every fact provided to it, prescribe treatment, or monitor a person in the real world.

AI systems can make mistakes. Important findings, hypotheses and suggested next steps should be reviewed with an appropriate healthcare professional. If you may be experiencing a medical emergency, seek immediate help from local emergency services or an appropriate healthcare provider.
